Steve Rathje Locks Down Support of
Key Republican Players Mosely says, “Rathje nailing down Republican nomination…” For Immediate Release Contact: Steve Rathje (319) 887-2008 (Cedar Rapids, IA) – Steve Rathje’s U.S. Senate campaign released benchmarks today of his progress towards securing the Republican nomination. Since Rathje’s announcement earlier this year, his hard work in getting out his message is paying off. To date, he has secured a great deal of support not only from County Central Committee leadership across the state, but also from nearly 90% of the Republican State Central Committee, as well. Included are the endorsements of Republican State Party Co-Chair Leon Moseley and State Central Committee members Karl Gilbertson, Dan Nicholson, John Ortega, Loras Schulte, Larry Smith and Bonnie Hall, as well as others soon to be named. “Steve Rathje may not be a politician, but he's sure lining up the support of key players in the Republican party,” said Leon Mosley. “Even though it’s early, Steve is beginning to nail down the Republican nomination county by county.” The Rathje camp also noted that Kathy Pearson, yet another key Republican leader has endorsed Rathje and joined the campaign as well. Ms. Pearson’s endorsement joins a growing number of Republican Women statewide who openly support Rathje’s candidacy. In addition, Steve’s hard work and message have earned him the support of nearly half of the Republican members of the Iowa House and Iowa Senate. A cross-sample of Rathje supporters from the Statehouse includes Senator Mark Zieman, Senator James Seymour, Senator Dave Mulder and Senator David Hartsuch. Some House members include Rep. Rich Anderson, Rep. Steve Lukan, Rep. Carmine Boal, Rep. Clel Baudler and Rep. Dan Rasmussen, again, with others soon to be named. Steve Rathje: “I’m extremely pleased with our progress during the past several months. Key Iowa Republican leaders are joining this campaign because they believe that my background as a self-made successful businessman, coupled with determination and a conservative commonsense message is exactly what we need to defeat Tom Harkin and win back Iowa’s other Senate seat in November of 2008.” Back to Latest News
